Chris Koon Interview
January, 2007

BP: First off, why don't you introduce yourself? Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Obviously, my name's Chris Koon! I like gummi sharks, and most foods that start with "ch" (chicken, cheesecake, chips, etc.)...hahaha...and I'm pursuing a career in entertainment!
You're an actor and a singer. Which do you prefer?
It's funny...I'm not really focusing on music right now. People think that I'm recording an album because a lot of my friends are musicians, and because I grew up doing musical theater but my main focus is definitely acting and dance.
What do you think your greatest accomplishment has been so far?
The fact that I found something I love (performing) and have stuck with it my entire life. I think that's a great accomplishment in itself.
Growing up in the mid-west, do you think it was/still is harder to establish your name as a serious actor?
Yeah, absolutely! A lot of what I've done is create opportunities for myself. If there aren't opportunities, make them! It's definitely harder, but now I'm doing a lot of traveling and meeting and working with some great people...so I don't want to say things are getting easier, but I have a lot more opportunity.
If you had the chance to work with anyone (singing or acting) who would it be and why?
I grew up a HUGE "Boy Meets World" fan and Lee Norris ("Minkus" from Boy Meets World) is now on One Tree Hill, so working with him was really cool! But yeah...anyone from "Boy Meets World"...or doing a video with Kelly Clarkson would be awesome, because her video concepts are usually really sweet. And Jerry Bruckheimer...I'd love to do a movie he directed.
What makes you stand out from other aspiring performers?
I'm just me. There's no one else in the world like me, and that makes me stand out in itself. I'm not trying to be something I'm not...just a guy pursuing his dream and trying to make a difference.
What do you hope to accomplish with your performing?
I'd just like to bring something positive to the table. There are so many people in the industry that aren't in it for the right reasons, and I grew up with so many positive role models doing so many great things, so I want people to see that I'm trying to do the same.
Where do you hope to be in ten years from now?
Hopefully still in this business! Hopefully I'll have a movie or a TV show under my belt and still be around and successful!
If you had to do EVERYTHING over again, what would you change and why?
Nothing...I mean, things happen for a reason, and everything I've been through has made me the person I am today. Some days I'm more okay with that than others, but in all seriousness, I've been blessed to have had the opportunities and made the friends I have, so I'm really thankful.
Do you have any advice for aspiring performers?
Just keep following your dream!!! Make sure you're in it for the right reasons, and keep a level head. Surround yourself with great people, and never give up. Make it yours.
Last but not least do you have a message for your fans?
What can I say except "THANK YOU!!!"? The people supporting me...I would be nothing without them. It's because of you guys that I'm getting to live my dream!!! You're the best!!! Thanks for stickin' by me these past few years...this is just the beginning!
